The attached story came from Papua New Guinea’s national newspaper from a young school boy. This is pretty much the way it is in villages around the country and STIHL is very much a part of the everyday life of the villagers. The attached story covers off on milling a tree using the STIHL chainsaw and Alaskan mill. Please click here to view.

Following are some impressive shots taken at the recent Lae Show in Papua New Guinea. The Mini Mill and Alaskan Mill were both featured. Also featured was a milling “race” between a Stihl 070 and MS660 (old vs new generation) and the MS660 won by 1/2 the length of the log. There is no questioning the success of both the show and our distributor, UMW’s, display.
Below is a photo taken at the Hargen Show 2007 in Papua New Guinea. Our Granberg distributor in PNG, UMW Niugini Ltd, put on a very impressive active display of the Alaskan Mill. These types of product demonstrations always draw an impressive crowd, as this image attests!
Follows is an email received by Granberg International in July from a Grind-N-Joint user in Marrickville, NSW. 27 years of service and still going strong (a new drive belt and he was on his way again). Hi, I’m the owner of a Granberg G912A which I purchased in 1980. It has given amazing service over the years, and like many reliable tools, has become part of ME. Imagine my horror when one day it started to make strange sounds, then the grind wheel stopped rotating. It was like the death of a friend. After opening the casing I discovered to my dismay that the cute little toothed belt had snapped. Woe! I tried to enter my details on your website to order a replacement (reluctant to throw my friend away because it really is a part of me, and also because such lovely engineering deserves better than that…). Because I live in Australia, yes, Australia, you wouldn’t accept my order. PLEASE help me breathe life back into my little forest companion. It’s Winter here now, and I’ve got wood to cut. Yep, sure I could just go to the store and buy another grinder but… hopefully you understand? Any chance???? Cheers, John
