ISC | MH285 REFLEX Mechanical Hitch
Available end of February — pre-order now
The ISC REFLEX Mechanical Hitch is a mid-line attachable mechanical device designed to allow installation and removal without pulling an entire length of rope through the system.
Combining the familiarity of hitch-cord-controlled descent with the versatility of a mid-line mechanical device, the REFLEX provides precise, consistent friction control with a smooth, gradual release.
The REFLEX features a safety-lock swing frame with L-shaped links, allowing the rope to be inserted into the body and helically wound around the links, rather than threaded through them. A latch on the top link securely holds the rope during use.
Mid-line attachment allows climbers to install or remove the device at the start of a climb or at any point during canopy work, without pulling the full rope length through the device. This is particularly useful when using ropes with bulky termination labelling, as it avoids the need to remove identification or traceability information.
Mid-line attachment also expands limb-passing options and simplifies system changeovers within the canopy.
Whether used in MRT or SRT systems, the REFLEX links provide consistent friction control without requiring additional friction hardware. This allows the REFLEX to be used for SRT without a Wrench and Tether, supporting a simpler, more compact system and enabling easy slack payout.
For climbers who prefer additional configuration options, the REFLEX includes attachment apertures compatible with the APEX and FLEX Tether, enabling versatile setup options and quick transitions between configurations.
The REFLEX is rated for a 200 kg rescue load, enabling climbers to perform rescues without introducing additional friction. Where greater control is preferred, an APEX and FLEX Tether can be added to increase friction.
The swivel eye can be removed through a series of deliberate actions, enabling quick disconnection without dismantling the climbing system or bridge setup. This is useful during breaks or short gear changes and also provides additional limb-passing options. The removable design allows the swivel eye to be easily replaced once worn.
The swivel eye accommodates two karabiners, or up to two bridge ropes can be threaded directly through the eye for a compact system.
The REFLEX supports self-tending, low-friction ascent and offers multiple towing-position options.
The REFLEX Mechanical Hitch is compatible with the NEW Chipmunk FLEX Tether, which is available separately.
